When you play blackjack you have to have a proper pair-splitting strategy. It depends on the rules of the game you’re playing as to which splitting strategy is the right one for you. - Split a pair of sixes when the dealer is showing a card that’s a two through six. If the dealer has a card showing that’s a seven or more, take a hit for another card.
- You can split a pair of nines against the following dealer up-cards: 2-6, 8-9. If the dealer is showing a seven, ten, or ace you can stand.

If you follow those basic rules every time you’re dealt a pair you’ll increase your chances of winning some money. The house still has an edge over you, but it will be reduced by increasing your overall odds through proper pair splitting.
There is also the option to re-split hands if you’re lucky enough to get dealt another one of the pair you’ve already split. Most casinos will allow you to re-split, but some will limit you to four splits in a row.
