In a recent article by Mike Caro, the poker strategy expert said that in order to win the maximum money possible, it is necessary to "care" about opponents.
He explained that emotional players can use their understanding of others at the table to their advantage, to puzzle out their tells and work out what they will do next, reports Poker Player Magazine.
Mr Caro notes that unemotional players can often go about their business of making money but failing to consider other players means they are unlikely to maximise their winnings.
According to the Mr Caro, a combination of dispassionate play and emoting with other players is necessary.
He commented: "A trick to winning the most money you can at poker is to be unemotional and calculating in your decisions, while allowing yourself to feel the emotions of others."
