2012 WSOP Day 1C Complete
July 10,2012 : WORLD SERIES OF POKER DAY 1C COMPLETED (Update)
Plenty of top players survive final main event entry day
There will a super-abundance of top players going forward from Day 1C - the final entry day for the World Series of Poker main event, which completed in the early hours of Tuesday local time.
Among the former champions, veteran Doyle Brunson survived to continue into Day 2 as did Joe Cada, Johnny Chan (WSOP main event champ in 1987 and 1988), Jamie Gold and Tom McEvoy, whilst big chip stacks were sported by Brandon Adams, Jake Cody, Sorel Mizzi and Viktor 'Isildur1' Blom.
Michael Mizrachi, Matt Affleck and Big One for One Drop winner Antonio Esfandiari are around the middle of the field and made it through, too.
But it was a bad day for former champs Josh Duhamel and Chris Moneymaker, who were eliminated, along with other much respected pros like Jeff Williams, Annette Obrestad, Lex Veldhuis, George Lind, Humberto Brenes, Steve O’Dwyer, Olivier Busquet, Jonathan Little, David Bach, Andrew Robl and Chino Rheem.
Phil Ivey survived, but ended the day with a small stack and will be disadvantaged when he returns to the felt for Day 2 on Wednesday, and much the same can be said for Jason Mercier.
Among the celebrities, Jason Alexander played well and will go through to Day 2 with a stack of almost 50,000.
Unofficial top ten chip counts from the Day 1C action included:
1. Randy Haddox ($188,275)
2. Erik Hellman ($175,950)
3. Marco Bognanni ($169,600)
4. Daniel Morgan ($160,025)
5. Mathias Maasberg ($159,150)
6. Brandon Adams ($158,100)
7. Steve Yea ($157,175)
8. Paul McTaggart ($155,475)
9. Asa Smith ($148,475)
10. Zennawi Petros ($148,150)
Day 1C players will take a break Tuesday, returning to play again in Day 2 on Wednesday. Meanwhile midday Tuesday local time will see the survivors of Days 1A and 1B, in separate battles, resume the struggle to stay in this tough and highly competitive race for millions.
