2012 WSOP Day 2c Complete
July 12,2012 : WORLD SERIES OF POKER UPDATE
Day 2C completes - Day 3 will see one combined field of all survivors for the first time in this year's main event
The French woman player and Winamax pro, Gaelle Baumann, looks like the one to beat as the World Series of Poker main event for 2012 approaches its Day 3 action Thursday, when the survivors of Days 1 A, B and C, along with those from Day 2 combine in a single field for the first time.
The completion of Day 2C late Wednesday night local time failed to produce a chip leader to challenge Baumann's position at the top of the main event chip stacks so far with 505,800.
When InfoPowa went to press, Mike Hack appeared to be the unofficial Day 2C chipleader with 457,000 in chips, closely followed by Marco Bognanni with 452,100. Other big stacks from day 2C included:
Jonathan Fountain - 435,400
Randy Haddox - 407,300
John Leathart - 404,900
Erik Hellman - 397,900 (
David Kluchman - 383,000
Jim Burns - 381,600
Francois Tosques - 372,200
Luke Brereton - 372,000
That means that Baumann will lead going into Day 3 with the blinds increasing to 800-1,600 with a 200 ante, followed by Mark Demirjian (499,900), and Shaun Deeb (460,900).
Day 3's combined fields will total 1,753 players - 842 from Day 2AB and 911 from Day 2C.
2,300 players started out on Day 2C in a survivor list that included Doyle Brunson and Phil Ivey - neither of whom lasted and are out of this year's main event, along with many other big names.
Heading for the exit in Day 2C were Kristy Gazes, Scott Clements, Matt Savage, Jennifer Tilly, all four of the Mizrachi brothers, Peter Jetten, Jennifer Tilly, Ted Forrest, and Kirk Morrison, Ryan D'Angelo, Matt Jarvis, Jennifer Harman, Blair Hinkle, Prahlad Friedman, Andy Frankenberger, Arnaud Mattern, Melanie Weisner, Viktor Blom, David Sands, Dan Kelly, Matt Affleck and Tom Marchese.
Also headed home were 2009 WSOP champion Joe Cada and 2006 WSOP champion Jamie Gold, and celebrity player and actor Jason Alexander.
On the positive side, the following aces are still in the hunt: 2010 main event third-place finisher Joseph Cheong, two-time WSOP main event champion Johnny Chan, Jake Cody, Marvin Rettenmaier, One Drop champion Antonio Esfandiari, John Juanda, Freddy Deeb, Shane Warne, Phil Galfond, Jason Mercier, Sorel Mizzi, Chris Moorman and Will Failla.
