2016 WSOP Event 43
FOURTH WORLD SERIES OF POKER BRACELET FOR GERMAN ACE
Danzer in second Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo Split-8 or Better Championship victory.
German poker pro George Danzer (33) has reprised his previous WSOP season victory in the $10,000 buy-in Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo Split-8 or Better Championship event at the World Series of Poker, claiming his fourth winners bracelet and the main prize of $338,646.
The event pulled in 136 entries, many of them notable names in the game, creating a prize pool worth $1.27 million and ensuring that 21 finishers cashed.
On the final table alone there were eight bracelet winners including Danzer, runner up Randy Ohel, Todd Brunson, Justin Bonomo, Eli Elezra and Scott Clements.
When play reached the three handed stage Bonomo, Ohel and Danzer embarked on a 4 hour battle that showcased outstanding skills from a very talented and determined trio. In the end it was Bonomo who exited at third for $148,601, leaving Ohel and Danzer to fight for the bracelet and the big money.
Ohel lost, but it was not for want of trying and his second place reward was a consolatory $ 209,302. He is enjoying a remarkably successful WSOP, previously finishing third in the $3,000 pot-limit Omaha event, 10th in the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. event, fourth in the $10,000 dealer’s choice event and eighth in the $1,500 dealer’s choice event for a total of $491,000.
Danzer is now the most braceleted German player in the business and can boast 24 WSOP cashes over the last six years, along with 15 final table appearances.
The rest of the final table scored as follows:
Ester Tayor-Brady $148,601
Todd Brunson $79,381
Eli Elezra $59,773
Scott Clements $45,935
David Grey $36,044.
