2016 WSOP Final 80
WORLD SERIES OF POKER DOWN TO THE LAST 80 SURVIVORS (Update)
Jerry Wong holds the chip lead on 11,555,000 going into Day 6.
Day 5 at the World Series of Poker main event saw just 251 survivors from the 800 who started Day 4, and the 6,737 who enrolled in the event.
Chip leaders for Day 5 were Bryan Piccioli (4,026,000), Daniel Colman 3,711,000 and Thomas Miller (3,684,000), but Piccioli was among those who did not survive the day.
By the time Day 5 ended there were just 80 left, and the casualties included David Benefield, Liv Boeree, Steve O’Dwyer, and former WSOP main event champ Ryan Riess.
That left just Greg Raymer and Johnny Chan as the only former main event champs left in the field....but then they, too busted out.
Other big names who fell by the wayside included Mike Gorodinsky, Jon Turner, Michael Gathy, Brandon Adams, Mukul Pahuja, Marc-Andre Ladouceur, Todd Brunson, Sorel Mizzi, Adam Friedman, Max Altergott and Shaun Deeb.
It was also a bad day for the remaining women players, with notable names like Maria Ho, Jen Shahade, Melanie Weisner and Gaelle Baumann all in the money but eliminated.
The 80 players returning for Day 6 include plenty of talent, with pros such as Kenny Hallaert, Jared Bleznick, Paul Volpe, Tom Marchese and Antoine Saout all running deep and in the top echelon of competitors.
Going into Day 6 the eighty survivors are led by Jerry Wong (11,555,000), Jan Suchanek (10,305,000) and Kenny Hallaert (10,050,00).
