$51,000 buy-in WCOOP Super High Roller Results
Tuesday September 22,2015 : TIMEX MIKE PIPPED AT THE POST IN MAJOR POKER COMPETITION
Final table chip leader finishes fifth as top internet player snatches the victory.
Mike "Timex" McDonald will be a disappointed man after starting the final table of the $51,000 buy-in WCOOP Super High Roller as chip leader this week, only to find himself upstaged by fellow Canadian and internet high stakes ace Ben "Ben86" Tollerene who seized the victory.
McDonald busted out at fifth after a bad run.
Tollerene's win was worth $616,518.34 after he agreed a three-way chop with Jose "Cejakas14" Angel Latorre and Nikita "fish2013" Bodyakovskiy, diluting a main prize that could have been worth $851,000.
46 players entered for the event, including tough competitors like Fedor Holz, Nick Petrangelo, Daniel Colman, Jason Mercier, Daniel Negreanu, Dzmitry Urbanovich, and Doug Polk. The high buy-in - the biggest yet in an online tournament - generated a prize pool of $2.3 million.
Tollerene and UK player José Ángel Latorre faced each other in the heads up following the elimination at third of Belarus player Nikita Bodyakovskiy for $594,069.53 shortly after the chop deal was agreed.
Tollerene was quick to leverage his chip advantage and soon dispatched LaTorre with the runner up prize of $560,412.13 as agreed in the earlier three-way chop.
The other final table cashes looked like this:
Russian player Nopaleva $230,000
Mike "Tîmex" McDonald $172,500
Fedor Holz of Austria $126,500
In related news, Shaun Deeb won his eighth Pokerstars online championship at the current World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP), which is a record for a series that includes the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP), and the Turbo Championship of Online Poker (TCOOP).
Playing in the $215 buy-in NL Hold'em event, Deeb boosted his bankroll by $68,000, and added his third WCOOP title to five other past SCOOP triumphs.
