Gaming Laboratories International Opens Office in Spain

GLI stakes a claim to the testing sector in Spain's new gambling dispensation
 
The independent testing company Gaming Laboratories International has opened its newest laboratory location in Sant Cugat, Spain, near Barcelona, becoming an early services supplier in the newly liberalised gambling market in that country.
 
GLI Test Labs Espana (GLI Espana), will support both land-based and i-gaming testing and certification work for Spanish suppliers and operators, and brings the total number of GLI global lab locations to 20.
 
GLI Europe Managing Director Phillip Barow said the new office allows GLI to further strengthen its European presence and capabilities:
 
"This is the right time for GLI to establish a more formal presence in Europe with the recent activity of the i-gaming market that is on the verge of becoming regulated, and the continued strong growth of Spanish manufacturers in South America. With locations in both Madrid and Barcelona, GLI will be able to better meet the needs of the industry and provide independent advice to regulators in each of the Autonomous Regions," he said.
 
GLI Espana will have native Spanish speakers to facilitate European manufacturers who are active in the Spanish and Latin American markets. The lab will also facilitate GLI's work with the numerous i-gaming operators and suppliers who are targeting the local Spanish markets as well as local AWP suppliers.
 
Barow revealed that the testing facility will have eight engineers and two support staff. The lab will be fully integrated within the GLI network, and will feature all of the technical and testing capabilities that exist in every other GLI office.
 
Barow also announced that GLI's i-gaming development director Filippo Ferri will now be based in Madrid, where he will service the rapidly evolving Spanish i-gaming market and interface with regulators.
 
In October last year, GLI Europe BV, the European operation of GLI, was accredited by Spanish Gaming Authorities to test and certify i-gaming platforms for Spain. The testing agency also has accreditation to certify remote gaming platforms for the Autonomous Region of Madrid.
