02/28/2012 : ANOTHER SOFTWARE PROVIDER LINES UP FOR A NEVADA ONLINE POKER LICENCE
NetEffect Networks the latest to join the queue
A Las Vegas-based software developer, NetEffect Networks, has become the latest company to join the queue for a Nevada online poker Class 2 (supply and service provider) licence.
The new applicant brings to 19 the number of companies that have so far applied for licences of various descriptions and classes related to the now legalised and soon to be regulated intrastate online poker sector.
Card Player.com has been updating the list of applicants and this week published the following:
•Cantor G&W (Nevada) L.P. — Service Provider
•South Point Poker (Gaughan Straight Holdings) — Operator
•IGT — Manufacturer/Service Provider
•888 Holdings plc/888 US Limited — Manufacturer/Distributor/Service Provider
•NetEffect Networks, Inc — Class 2 Service Provider
•Gaming Laboratories International — Independent Testing Lab
•BMM Compliance — Independent Testing Lab
In related news, Wiiliam Hill plc chief executive Ralph Topping told journalists on a results conference call this week that his company has applied for a full gaming license in Nevada, but that it would not take its eye off the ball in New Jersey, where moves toward legalising sports betting are in progress (see previous InfoPowa reports).
"While we are focusing [on Nevada] we better not overlook the move by Gov. Christie in New Jersey particularly to overturn the land-based ban," Topping said.
Will Hill has three US assets: American Wagering purchased last April for $18 million; Club Cal Neva Satellite Race and Sportsbook division acquired for $21 million, and - bought the following month for $15.7 million - Brandywine Bookmaking LLC, which operates Lucky's Rave & Sports books
