Black Friday civil proceedings extended
03/24/2012 : BLACK FRIDAY COMPANIES AND INDIVIDUALS GIVEN ANOTHER EXTENSION (Update)
Parties now have until May 14 to respond to federal civil case
Almost a year on, the Black Friday civil proceedings continued to reverberate around the industry as yet another extension was granted by the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York this week to Pokerstars, Full Tilt Poker, Absolute Poker, Howard Lederer, Ray Bitar, Rafe Furst and payment processor Chad Elie who failed to make the March 19 response deadline and now have until May 14, 2012.
Poker News reports that numerous extensions have been granted because of new developments since the respondents’ original response deadline of November 30, 2011.
Judge Leonard B. Sand approved the extension on March 20, the contents of which can be viewed here: http://dockets.justia.com/docket/new-york/nysdce/1:2011cv02564/377900/
Meanwhile, rumours and speculation are again rife across the internet that the protracted Group Bernard Tapie acquisition of Full Tilt Poker - and hopefully payment for US players via the DoJ - is imminent.
For once GBT lawyer Behnam Dayanim declined to comment, but the usually reliable Wicked Chops poker information site claimed that its unidentified sources had assured it that a relaunch of FTP will take place in March...this despite the fact that the last information to hand was that the company was stll seeking the reinstatement of its Alderney licence.
"According to multiple sources, Full Tilt is in “full ramp-up mode” to relaunching," Wicked Chops reports.
