Fulltilt Poker To Appoint US Payment Admin
Thursday February 7,2013 : PPA SAYS POKER PAYOUT ADMINISTRATOR WILL SOON BE APPOINTED
But it may still be awhile before U.S. Full Tilt players are paid
The Poker Players Alliance action body says in this week's poker update that the Department of Justice is close to appointing an independent administrator to assess and pay US player claims against Full Tilt Poker.
Since the shutdown of FTP's US operations early 2011 players have been awaiting word on how and when they will be paid.
Following a multi-million dollar settlement agreed between the Department of Justice and Pokerstars, the latter acquired FTP and paid in a substantial sum of money to the US authorities for disbursement to former Full Tilt players.
Pokerstars went on to pay out all owed global players, but American punters were told by the DoJ that they would have to await the selection and appointment of an independent third party administrator to arrange their reimbursement.
The PPA announcement says:
“The PPA is happy to report that the Justice Department, as part of its continuing dialogue with PPA regarding remission for the victims of Full Tilt Poker, has officially confirmed that it is close to naming a claims administrator for the FTP remission process. We expect the formal announcement from the DOJ by February 14th or so.”
However, the action group cautions:
"It should be noted that the naming of a claims administrator does not mean we players will be seeing our money right away. There is still a lot of work to do before we can reasonably expect payments, but the naming of an administrator is an important milestone. It will also lead to additional important information becoming available to us as the administrator begins actual work."
