Two Questionable online casinos close
Sunday September 23,2012 : QUESTIONABLE ONLINE CASINOS ARE NO MORE
Spamming, shilling and using dubious software is a reason to say 'good riddance'
Two online casinos that had the dubious distinction of being accused of using copycat software, having employees pose as players, and spamming the message boards have apparently closed.
The websites of iButler Casino.com and Bet821.com are currently displaying identical notices in English and Greek which advise:
"We would like to inform you that iButler Casino has permanently suspended all its operation activities. Players who have real money balances in their account, kindly contact Customer Support Team by e-mail (email@example.com) "
The two operations launched in 2009 and reports of shilling and spamming were not long in surfacing.
Then players noted a remarkable similarity between the games - allegedly supplied by the Malta-based 36 Gaming - and those of the more established provider Rival Gaming.
The rather basic rip-offs were reported to Rival and information sites across the internet commented on the issue. That triggered a damage control response from a Cyprus-based employee, Nicos Theocharides, who wrote to webmasters "for and on behalf of iButler and Bet821 Casino Teams" saying that the company had innocently used software provided through the Cyprus firm Fenganda, and asking them to remove the bad publicity. Few did.
It may not be the last the industry has heard of British Virgin Isles licensed Bet821 or Fenganda, which are believed to be interested in providing white label sites, presumably with software from 36 Gaming.
