Poker: Isildur Tilts and loses over 3 MILLION
12/10/09 - Signs of understandable frustration surfaced in Isildur1's communications this week after the unknown Swedish online poker high roller suffered a massive setback playing Cardrunner pro Brian Hastings.
“This is not happening”; "u know how lucky u are?"; "i can promise this is the worst luck anyone had"; and "take my last $$ i dont want it" comments gave an indication of how much difficulty the player was in.
His mood was in stark contrast to only days earlier when he had recouped much of his recent losses in Sunday and Monday online poker sessions that earned him well over $3.1 million.
Starting around midday Tuesday, Isildur1's day initially did not appear too bad as he tangled with Jungleman12 at $100/$200 NLHE, taking him for $471 000.
Next on his list was Brian Townsend, who he played heads up on the $500/$1 000 tables at Full Tilt Poker in a more than four hour confrontation that saw over 2 500 hands of action with one pot breaching the $757 000 level.
Emerging from this clash Isildur1 was up a further $722 000 and looking good as he faced off against Cardrunners instructor and poker pro Brian Hastings over four tables of $500/$1 000 pot-limit Omaha.
The match started well for Isildur1 as Hastings went down almost a million before embarking on a heater that saw him victorious to the tune of $4.2 million in a contest that delivered up four pots worth $500 000, and twelve exceeding $400 000.
Exhausted after 2 858 hands against the relentless but hopelessly out-of-luck Swede, Hastings finally called it a night up over $4.2 million.
It was an expensive session overall for Isildur1 with losses at $3 013 363 in almost 10 000 hands of nosebleed poker, again triggering speculation on how much longer the still unidentified Swedish phenom can continue at this level.
MarketPulse lists the main beneficiaries of matches against Isildur1 since he burst onto the high stakes scene in September as: Brian Hastings (+$3.84 million), Phil Ivey (+$2.91 million), Patrik Antonius (+$2.18 million), and Brian Townsend (+1.32 million).
