80 Percent Of Mobile Time Spent On Apps
Tuesday June 24,2014 : EIGHTY SIX PERCENT OF MOBILE TIME IS SPENT ON APPS
Just 31 minutes are spent browsing the Web, new study shows.
A new mobile usage study conducted by Flurry Analytics in the United States shows that Americans spend on average 2 hrs and 42 minutes per day on their smartphones and tablets...but only 31 minutes are used to browse the web.
Most of their focus - 86 percent of their mobile interaction - is spent on apps, a phenomenon that online gambling operators have clearly tumbled to, judging by the growing number of gambling apps being continually launched
The Flurry study showed that mobile gambling is one of the fastest growing industries in the world at present, with growing numbers of punters using smartphones or tablets to place wagers on sports events or play casino games.
Last year, U.S. consumers spent nearly $37 billion on retail purchases from mobile, according to eMarketer. By 2016, consumers are expected to make almost $87 billion in mobile purchases, a figure representing over a quarter of all e-commerce sales.
The study notes that it is essential that online casino operators optimise their mobile portals by making content shorter and conversion processes simpler in order for players to access games and services through an easy to use interface.
Mobile devices and systems are best used for apps, gaming, socialising, communication and quick browsing, and designers need to reflect that in every aspect of their products.
According to a 2013 study by digital e-commerce marketing firm EPiServer, 35 percent of businesses are now investing most of their resources into new mobile strategies, with 40 percent of respondents saying that mobile commerce made up between 20 and 40 percent of their sales.
