Daniel Colman Wins Monte Carlo Super High Roller Event
Sunday April 27 ,2014 : MONTE CARLO SUPER HIGH ROLLER WIN FOR AMERICAN POKER PLAYER
23-year-old online ace claims first prize of Euro 1,539,300.
Daniel “mrGR33N13” Colman, a 23-year-old mainly online poker player, has defeated a field of 61 other entrants and re-entrants to win the Euro 1,539,300 main prize in a live tourney with a prize pool of Euro 6,015,240 prize pool and an impossibly long title – the 2014 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo Casino European Poker Tour Grand Final Euro 100,000 Super High Roller!
The young American, who lives in Brazil at present, played an outstanding game over three gruelling days against some of the world's top players, agreeing to a three-way chop with fellow high stakes online players Dan "Jungleman" Cates and Igor Kurganov in the closing stages of the game.
The players agreed that Colman would take the lion's share of Euro 1,298,300, whilst Cates and Kurganov would walk away with at least Euro 1,168,300 and Euro 1,128,300 respectively, leaving Euro 241,000 on the table for the ultimate winner and another Euro 115,400 for the runner-up.
46 hands after the chop, Kurganov was eliminated at third by Colman, leaving Cates and Colman facing each other in the heads up, with Cates holding a significant chip lead.
Over the next hour the duo battled it out, with the lead changing before Colman was able to wrest control permanently and dispatch Jungleman for Euro 1,283,400.
Colman, who won the World Championship of Online Poker Heads Up High Roller last year and has played in well over 20 EPT live events, had a sizeable investment in the Monte Carlo spectacular, having re-entered twice in the Euro 100,000 buy-in event.
His return was impressive at Euro 1,539,300, along with a bracelet worth Euro 10,000 from Shamballa Jewels.
Other final table payments were:
3 Igor Kurganov Russia Euro 1,128,300
4 Richard Yong China Euro 637,600
5 Rono Lo China Euro 493,340
6 Paul Phua Malaysia Euro 385,000
