NCAAF Betting – Previewing the Conference Champs
NCAAF Betting – Previewing the Conference Champs
College football has two more years of National Championship confusion before an even more confusing playoff system is put in place in 2014. While the public still has some clue as to how teams are going to be ranked, you can bet that the college football betting fanatics will be taking advantage of these last two years. Let's take a look at the different conferences and see which teams have the best chance of being the 2012 conference champions.
Clemson was a strong contender in the ACC last year along with Virginia Tech. But Clemson looks to have more than half of its offensive starters coming back for the 2012 season while VT is looking at only three starters returning. The challenges for Clemson will be on the defensive side of the ball, but there are some good looking prospects that should make this season very interesting. It might be a dog fight between Clemson and VT, but look for Clemson to come out as the ACC champs in 2012.
The temptation here is to take TCU as the Big 12 champ because of its obvious strengths on both sides of the ball. But this is the first season for TCU in the Big 12 after leaving the Mountain West Conference, and things are a little different in the Big 12. While quarterback Landry Jones can be an asset to Oklahoma, he can also be a huge liability as well. The football experts like West Virginia to take the Big 12 title this year.
The Big East lost some prime programs in the big conference shake up that has been going on the past couple of years. The teams that the Big East is left with really do not offer a lot of promise. You can throw a dart at a dartboard and pick Pittsburgh to win the Big East in 2012.
This is still a strong conference and 2012 will be the Michigan/Michigan State show in the Big Ten. The sports betting sites are conflicted on which team will walk away with the title, but it looks like Michigan should take it all in the Big Ten this year.
The only two teams worth talking about in the Pac-12 for 2012 are USC and Oregon. The Ducks have been a good team for a long time and USC is coming off a successful 2011 campaign. But when it all gets filtered out at the end, the Ducks should walk away with the Pac-12 championship.
This is probably the conference that most people will have their eyes on in 2012. This is the conference that features Georgia, LSU, Auburn, South Carolina and Arkansas. Nothing is going to come easy to any of the teams in this conference, but LSU should be the top dog when the season is all over. This is the perfect chance for LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger to finally separate himself from the crowd.

NHL Odds: Forsberg Faces Elliott in Nashville -
The last time the Nashville Predators played against the Calgary Flames, Calgary had a 4-1 lead five minutes into the second period. Nashville responded with four back-to-back goals, including a hat trick from centreman Filip Forsberg. Both teams went into overtime with five goals, and Calgary defenseman Mark Giordano (12 goals, 22 assists) scored the winning goal.
NBA Odds: Hawks, Wiz in Southeast Showdown -
The Washington Wizards (42-27 SU, 36-32-1 ATS) can pretty much secure the Southeast Division title with a win Wednesday night over the Atlanta Hawks (37-32 SU, 31-38 ATS). Tip-off is at 8 PM ET on ESPN; the Wizards lead Atlanta by five games with less than a month remaining before the playoffs.
NBA Odds: Clippers Try to Slow Down Bucks in LA -
Milwaukee Bucks small forward Giannis Antetokounmpo and Los Angeles Clippers power forward Blake Griffin are two of the most talented and versatile forwards in the NBA. The two lead their teams into battle on Wednesday in Los Angeles.
NHL Odds: Canadiens Welcome Islanders Tonight -
The Montreal Canadiens (32-20-8) welcome the New York Islanders (28-21-10) on Thursday (7:30 PM ET on SNE). After getting their first victory under new head coach Claude Julien, the Canadiens will look to build on that momentum against a red-hot Islanders team.
