June revenues up 14.4 percent in Nevada
Saturday July 26,2014 : BACCARAT DRIVES WELCOME INCREASE IN NEVADA JUNE REVENUES
Online poker perks up a little, too.
The latest performance figures from the Nevada regulator show that land casinos in the Silver State enjoyed a 14.4 percent increase in overall revenues in June, thanks mainly to a surge in baccarat win.
Revenue at state casinos reached $906.9 million, while casinos on the Las Vegas Strip, where most of the VIP baccarat action takes place, were up by 22.5 percent to $532 million.
The Associated Press news agency reports that slots across the state also saw increased action, with slot win on the Las Vegas Strip up by 8.9 percent, its biggest gain in more than a year, reversing two consecutive months of declining slot win.
The baccarat win was 12 percent, below May's outstanding 16.5 percent, but still welcome and delivering revenue of $132.8 million, thanks to good volumes.
Total poker revenue fell 4.7 percent to $15.2 million, but the state's three licensed online poker sites delivered better news, taking in $1.037 million - up just over $175 000 on the numbers from May 2014...probably as a result of World Series of Poker action in the state during June.
The state Gaming Control Board reported Friday that Downtown Las Vegas casino revenues of $41 million were up 12 percent; Reno casino revenues of $48 million were down 3 percent compared with June 2013, while South Lake Tahoe casinos brought in $12 million and were down 2 percent.
Michael Lawton, senior research analyst for the board, said World Cup football betting brought in $5.9 million, an all-time high for the event for the state.
The state collected $44 million in taxes based on the June winnings, which is up less that 1 percent compared with a year earlier.
