NET ENTERTAINMENT LAUNCH IMMINENT FOR PAF ONLINE CASINO

A four year agreement announced by online gambling software provider NetEntertainment and Ålands Penningautomatförening (Paf) of Finland's semi-autonomous islands is close to fruition with the imminent launch of a download and browser-based online casino.

Originally announced in March of this year, the agreement will enable Paf to further tap into the Nordic market around the Baltic Sea, where it is one of the largest operators and will also be a part of Paf’s internationalisation. Under its terms, Net Entertainment will provide Paf with both its download and browser based version of CasinoModule. A full suite of casino games coupled with an administration tool will allow Paf to effectively manage and maximise the potential of its online casino operations.

“The countries around the Baltic Sea are a large and important market for online gaming yet controlled by a handful of operators where Paf is one of the largest” said NetEnt CEO Johan Öhman, at the time.

Founded in 1967, Paf is a gaming entertainment operator with an Åland government granted gaming license that develops and operates gaming both online and offline in selected markets. Paf’s online operation was launched in 1999 and has today well over 500 000 registered players. In 2007, Paf's online operation generated a gross gaming yield of Euro 66 million.

“We have made an important and strategic decision in choosing Net Entertainment as partner for our online casino operation in order to succeed with our internationalisation ambition," said Lars Porko, CEO at Paf.

It is not yet known how the Paf operation will square with a national Finnish debate considering a ban on Internet gambling now shaping up
