2011 WSOP Winner Pius Heinz
Wednesday, November 9, 2011 : 22-year old poker player becomes title holder and multi-millionaire
22-year-old German poker player Pius Heinz made a masterful comeback from entering the final table of nine with one of the lowest chip stacks to emerging victorious as the 2011 WSOP Main Event Champion.
Following Ben Lamb's shock bust-out shortly after resumption of play, Heinz faced the Czech Republic's Martin Staszko heads-up, exchanging chip leads nine times over 119 hands, in the ensuing six hours of play, that culminated in Heinz winning the title, $ 8 715 638 in prize money, taking home the WSOP gold and diamond bracelet and making history as the first German to win the title
Final table results ended:
1. Pius Heinz Germany $8,715,638
2. Martin Staszko Czech Republic $5,433,086
3. Ben Lamb United States $4,021,138
4. Matt Giannetti United States $3,012,700
5. Phil Collins United States $2,269,599
6. Eoghan O'Dea Ireland $1,720,831
7. Bob Bounahra Belize $1,314,097
8. Anton Makiievskyi Ukraine $1,010,015
9. Sam Holden United Kingdom $782,115
“Honestly I’m not sure what I’m going to do with the money,” Heinz said early Wednesday. “Probably my family is going to get a couple gifts.”
"It's good and not so good," Staszko said of his second place finish. "I'm not happy when I don't win. But second place is not too bad."
