New Jersey Online Gambling self exclusion
NEW JERSEY INTROS SELF-EXCLUSION REGISTER FOR ONLINE SECTOR
Initiative a collaboration between DGE and NICUSA
The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) has introduced a self exclusion register for the internet sector in line with its responsible gambling strategy.
Punters wishing to self-exclude themselves from New Jersey online gaming can register through the Division’s website at njdge.org or via njportal.com/DGE/selfexclusion.
Individuals are required to answer a series of questions to prove their identity and must choose between a 1 year or 5 year self-exclusion term as part of the registration process.
The creation of an online registry simplifies a previously cumbersome process where individuals had to create an account with one of the licensed internet gaming websites or apply in person at a DGE office or New Jersey racetrack.
Terrestrial self-exclusion registration still needs to be completed in person, however, the authority said.
“The Division of Gaming Enforcement has one of the most comprehensive responsible gaming programs in the country,” said David Rebuck, DGE director. “We strive to be innovative and remain at the forefront of Internet gaming regulation while giving individuals options to play online responsibly, or opt out if that is the right choice for them.”
The initiative is a partnership between the State of New Jersey and the New Jersey Information Division of NICUSA, the official eGovernment partner of the State of New Jersey.
“The Division is very sensitive to the issues of responsible gaming,” Rebuck added. “We understand that while gambling is fun and a form of entertainment for most people, it can result in serious addiction for some individuals.
“The Division is confident that proper technical solutions are in place to allow patrons to engage in Internet gaming responsibly.”
Licensed operators in the New Jersey internet gaming sector are also bound to a $250 000 annual fee that is specifically utilised by compulsive gambling programs in the State.
