Kahnawake Releases Self Exclusion Stats

Saturday February 2,2013 : KAHNAWAKE REGULATOR HAS RELEASED SELF-EXCLUSION STATS

Online gambling regulator reports on 59 self-exclusion requests in 2012

The facility through which online players can self-exclude themselves from internet casinos operating under Kahnawake Gaming Commission licenses came into focus this week with the publication of the Commission's self-exclusion statistics for the year 2012.

KGC-licensed operators generally provide on their sites information which enables players to assess whether they are becoming too embroiled in gaming, and a link to the Commission's website where they will find a dedicated self-exclusion page, email address, and on-line form for those who want to be excluded from playing on any KGC-regulated online gaming website.

Players can also ask for self-exclusion or a limitation on deposits direct to the operator.

The current 2012 Player Self-Limitation and Self-Exclusion Summary can be found on the regulator's website, but in summary details 59 applications from which 14 were isolated on grounds of:

* 1 request pertained to an online gambling site not licensed by the Commission.
* 8 requests for deposit limits were forwarded to the appropriate site and executed by the operator.
* 4 requests requested account closures and were forwarded to the appropriate site and executed by the operator.
* 1 request was for an account to be re-opened and was forwarded to the appropriate site and executed by the operator.

The remaining 45 cases were reviewed by the regulator and dealt with as follows:

* 12 Comprehensive Self-Exclusion Directives were issued and forwarded to all KGC licensees.
*  1 request was to revoke a Comprehensive Self-Exclusion which was denied by the Commission.
* 28 requests are pending due to incomplete information, which the Commission has requested but not yet received from the players.
*  4 requests for temporary self-exclusion could not be processed as the KGC regulations only make provision for full exclusion.

Players who seek self-exclusion are contacted by the regulator's Compliance Officer to verify identity and information and identity and/or to request further information needed to proceed.

Where the request concerns a specific licensed operator it is forwarded for implementation. Once the self-limitation or self-exclusion request has been implemented, the operator is required to notify the player and the Commission with the date upon which implementation was completed.

If the self-exclusion request is in relation to all online gaming sites that are licensed by the Commission, a Comprehensive Self-Exclusion Directive signed by the Commission chairman is emailed to all current licensees with a specific date and time by which all licensees must permanently exclude the requestor from accessing, depositing funds and from playing on any gaming system that is operated by the licensee and licensed by the Commission.

Players are advised to notify the Commission immediately if any KGC-licensed online gaming site does not respect the terms of a Comprehensive Self-Exclusion Directive.
