USA Poker Players Dominate Market Despite UIGEA

New independent statistics from Poker Players Research show that online poker players in the United States continue to dominate the international market notwithstanding the inconvenience of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act which bans financial transactions with offshore online poker companies.

The numbers should give American politicians pause this year as Congressman Barney Frank pushes ahead with his bill HR 2267 to licence and regulate on line gambling in the States.

Poker Players Research found that there are over 10 million real money poker players in the United States - a number over five times greater than the next largest market, the United Kingdom, which has 1.9 million online poker fans.

Other major poker playing countries with a strong online sector include Germany (1.6 million players); France (1.3 million players) and Scandinavia - Norway, Sweden and Denmark, with 1.4 million real money players.
