Wsop Event 46 End Day 3
Thursday June 30, 2011 : Entry lists for the past few events at the World Series of Poker have continued to attract most of the famous names in poker, and many of them have been ignominiously despatched in first or second day action as they go after the money and the bracelets, often against unfamiliar names.
Event 46: $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em Six-Handed Championship is another event that will need an additional day to decide the million dollar winner at this year’s World Series of Poker. On Wednesday going into the early hours of Thursday the ten level rule was applied to shut down the third day action with two players still slogging away in the heads up.
Joe Ebanks and Chris Moorman will return Thursday to continue their epic tussle for the bracelet and a first prize worth $1,158,481, with Moorman holding a massive lead on 11,015,000 against Ebanks's 3,215,000.
The third day started with 22 survivors from an original first day field of 474 that contained many of the best professionals in the business. As the day wore on notable names heading for the exit proliferated, including David Benefield, Chris Klodnicki, Greg Dyer, and the current 2011 World Series of Poker Player of the Year leader; Ben Lamb.
By the time the final table was reached around 10pm Vegas time the cashes were already substantial, ranging from ninth place finisher Nick Grippo who took home $73,695 to third placed Bertrand Grospellier who collected a check for $447,074.
Thursday's runner up prize, which looks as if it may go to Ebanks on present chip counts, will be $716,282, with the winner claiming the first prize of $1,158,481 and the bracelet.
Mike Sowers, Taylor Paur and Tristan Wade busted out in sixth, fifth and fourth positions respectively as the game moved into the early hours of Thursday morning.
