1 Million Dollar License Fee For Nevada Online Poker

Friday February 15,2013 : NEVADA GOVERNOR NOT KEEN ON LICENSING FEE IN NEW ONLINE POKER BILL (Update)

But introducer Assemblyman William Horne is open to discussion

Assemblyman William Horne introduced his bill AB114 to the Nevada Assembly Wednesday following discussions with Governor Brian Sandoval earlier this week .

The main thrust of the bill is to give the governor authority to negotiate interstate compacts on internet poker and do away with current restrictions making legalization conditional on federal approval.

Sandoval has expressed the hope that the bill might be approved within the next 30 days by the Nevada Legislature in the face of possible competition from New Jersey as that state gathers legalization momentum.

However, the Nevada governor has expressed some reservations regarding the proposed $1 million licensing fee for hosting entities prescribed by AB114.

Associated Press reports that it's a number Horne could change, with conversations with the governor's office and Nevada gambling industry on-going.
