Finally USA Players to be paid by Fulltilt Poker

It's taken an inordinately long time, but payments to players are now a little closer
 
The hundreds of millions of dollars from the Pokerstars settlement that the US Department of Justice has been holding for payment to Full Tilt Poker players  may soon – finally – be disbursed following the news Wednesday that the feds have appointed a third party, independent Claims Administrator to handle the project.
 
Announcing that players can expect payments to start soon, the Department revealed that it has selected the Garden City Group as Claims Administrator and that company has already launched a website for FTP players who wish to lodge claims. The website can be accessed at www.fulltiltpokerclaims.com.
 
Preet Bharara, the chief Black Friday prosecutor from the US Attorney Office for the Southern District of New York, said in a statement:
 
“The Garden City Group brings a track record of handling the administration of some of the country’s largest and most complicated settlements.
 
“With their selection, we take a significant step forward in the process of compensating victims of the Full Tilt Poker scheme.”
 
Recentpoker.com readers will recall that part of the massive $547 million Pokerstars paid over to the US government as part of a settlement agreement (which included no admission of wrongdoing), was earmarked for US players impacted by the FTP implosion.
 
FTP has since been acquired by Pokerstars parent The Rational Group.
 
The claims administrator appointment perhaps heralds the end of a long and tortuous process to make players whole again after the events of Black Friday in April 2011.
