Armenia Clamps Down On Gambling


5/2/10 – The Armenian government has followed the example of the Russians in confining all gambling activity to specific areas of the Eastern European country, reports The Messenger Online.
 
On April 27 the Armenian Parliament introduced amendments into legalization effective from January 1, 2013, through which gambling businesses will only be able to operate in Tsahkadzor, Kotayk and Sevan and in certain areas nominated by the Government such as Yerevan International Airport Zvartnots and a free economic zone around it which is to be created in the near future.
 
There are currently 11 land casinos and 103 gambling saloons in Armenia.
