Poker pro Doyle Brunson has said he is enjoying playing in Game Show Network High Stakes Poker.

The veteran gamer was on a 12-game winning streak heading into the first night of filming, according to his blog on DoylesRoom.

A strong lineup of players were set to take part in the cash game, including Eli Elezra, Phil Laak, Mike Baxter and Dario Minieri.

Another gamer entering the event was online poker ace Tom Dwan, who is one of the top earners in online Texas hold'em.

He recently performed well at the PartyPoker Premier League Three, reaching the final table at the all-star poker tournament and coming in fourth behind Juha Helppi, Tony G and JC Tran.

High Stakes Poker is filmed at the Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas and is now in its fifth season.

The minimum buy-in for the competition has been increased from $100,000 to $200,000.

It has seen some huge pots played for over the course of four seasons, including one in which Gus Hansen earned $575,000 when his quads defeated Daniel Negreau's full house.
