FIRST LICENSED SPANISH ONLINE CASINO LAUNCHED

Thursday,  November 3, 2011 :  Casino Gran Madrid claims it's the first to be licensed under new Spanish gambling laws

One of the top five European land-based casinos, Spain's Casino Gran Madrid, has launched its local online gambling website and claims it is among the first to license under Spain's new internet gambling dispensation, ensuring players of strictly regulated, fair and safe online gambling action.

The online site offers a wide range of games, including French Roulette, blackjack and slot machines, but poker will have to wait for a separate licence, which will hopefully be achieved before the end of 2011.

A company spokesman said that to obtain its licence, the company had to successfully pass an extensive evaluation process by independent auditors to examine all technical and software aspects, responsible gambling and operational procedures. Requirements include fail-safe duplication of hardware and a recovery process that enables the operator to recover from a server crash within seven minutes.

Currently, the new internet project of Casino Gran Madrid directly employs 10 people, but enjoys all the human, technical, infrastructural and logistics services of the physical casino, including the assistance of some 50 IT staff.

The site is powered by Playtech software.
