Good Growth for Egaming

Sunday December 4,2011 : AGCC's expectations exceeded

E-gaming applications and licencing exceeded the Alderney Gambling Control Commission's expectations this year following a relatively quiet start to the 2011 period.

Robin Le Prevost, Alderney's director of e-commerce attributes the growth to established operators migrating to Alderney because of the attractiveness of its positioning, the soft tax environment and no risk of exposure to the double imposition of gambling duties, reports Tax News.com.

"There is a realization in the industry that a single licence is not a workable concept in Europe and this has led many operators to examine all the supporting reasons why they are in any particular jurisdiction. When it comes to regulatory stability, knowledge, reputation, tax and technical infrastructure we are clearly at the top of the pile,” said Le Prevost.

"Alderney will not rest on its laurels for one minute as we continue to build on what is now our third largest industry and we will continue to encourage and attract the highest quality of operators to join us here in the islands,” he added.

The Alderney Government is investing heavily in developing the island's e-commerce and e-gaming networks.
