The ballot for the European Poker Tour (EPT) Awards got underway today on the EPT's official website.

Members of the public are able to vote in the Poker Writers and People's Choice categories, while the other five accolades will be decided by a four-person judging panel featuring Lee Jones, Victoria Coren, John Caldwell and John Duthie, Poker News reports.

The ceremony takes place on September 9th, the night before the new EPT season kicks off at Casino Barcelona.

Sander Lylloff won the Spanish tournament last year and will likely be among the strongest contenders to pick up a prize at the awards evening, given that the Barcelona event is one of the biggest stages on the Tour.

Other competitors who could be in with a chance include Bertrand Grospellier, the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure champion and Glen Chorny, who took down the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo.

Grospellier topped the season four leaderboard ahead of Luca Pagano.
