Serie B Bwin brand change announced
 
In a statement issued this week Italy´s 22-club second tier Lega Nazionale Professionisti Serie B football body announced that it has been re-branded Serie Bwin after a two-year sponsorship deal was signed with the Vienna-listed internet betting firm Bwin Interactive.
 
The sponsorship agreement will bring much-needed revenue to a division which has been under severe financial pressure for several years.
 
Serie B will run its own affairs this season after the top-flight Serie A broke away from the two-division professional league.
 
The statement revealed that the agreement, signed at the Milan HQ of the Lega Nazionale Professionisti Serie B by chairman Luca Ferrari and Bwin Italy chief executive Paolo Di Feo,
is for two years to 30 June 2012.
 
The deal follows earlier Bwin coups that have involved the acquisition of broadcast rights to Italian Series A and B matches, along with similar agreements in other European countries.
 
Bwin is also involved in sponsorships with Real Madrid.
