The current (eighth) season of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series ended on a high note this week with the much anticipated Main Event hosted by poker pro Jennifer Harman. With a $2 million guaranteed prize-pool, the event attracted 4 748 hopefuls, among them many seasoned pros and big names in the game more than prepared to pay the $500 buy-in.
Such a large entry field boosted the prize-pool to $2 375 000, providing good rewards all the way round the final table, with even the first man out taking home $30 875. The final table was decided after 10 hours of play whittled the field down to the nine survivors.
The cash bubble extended down to 648 places in the event, with respected names who finished in the money including Huck Seed, Stuart Paterson, Andy Bloch, Michael Gracz, Roland de Wolfe and Robert Mizrachi. International poker ace Phil Ivey trailed badly and ended up just missing the cash bubble.
In the end it was final table 3 to 1 chipleader "cheesemonster" who took the honours and the main $410 780 purse after a tense heads-up with MarMoss, who collected a second place check of almost a quarter of a million dollars for his time and trouble. Other six-figure payouts included "SLmelonman" on $161 500 in the number three slot, and "frostey" on $125 875 for a fourth placing.
