MORE POLITICAL HEARINGS ON INTERNET GAMBLING SCHEDULED

Thursday,  November 10, 2011 : Further evidence of the momentum building for legalization?

Two more political hearings on internet gambling are scheduled in the US Congress during November, perhaps an indication of the growing momentum for legalization in the United States.

On November 17, the Senate Indian Affairs Committee has planned to hear evidence in a hearing titled: "Future of Internet Gaming: What's at Stake for Tribes?" Given the intense interest by tribal gambling groups in the subject – especially in California – it is expected that the hearing will attract considerable attention.

On November 18 the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee, which has already held one well-publicised hearing titled "Internet Gaming: Is There a Safe Bet?" focusing on the Barton bill to legalise online poker  will be extending its hearing in order to hear from a series of expert witnesses and interested parties.
