Nevada Regulators Investigation Iovation

Tuesday May 14, 2013 : IOVATION NOW THE SUBJECT OF A NEVADA REGULATOR ENQUIRY (Update)

Youtube can-of-worms recording not good for founder Greg Pierson

Repercussions are still building from the publication on Youtube over last weekend of a damning 2008 recorded discussion between UltimateBet executives and their lawyers on the hole card cheating scandal at the now defunct online poker site

Our readers will recall that management of the unrelated Ultimate Poker site that has just launched as the first legalised online poker operation in Nevada have already axed fraud prevention company Iovation, a business also founded by UltimateBet founder Greg Pierson, who was allegedly one of the individuals involved in the damning recording.

Now the usually well-informed Howard Stutz's GamingWire reports that Nevada State Gaming Control Board chairman A.G. Burnett has confirmed that the regulator is enquiring into the relationship between Ultimate Poker and Iovation, saying that the anti-fraud and verification company was not directly licensed by Nevada as a service provider.

Iovation's services were used by Ultimate Poker service provider CAMS-Verifi, which does have the requisite service provider licence.

Burnett commented to GamingWire:

“This is in the category of where the ultimate responsibility rests upon the licensee (Ultimate Gaming), and I know that they are addressing the issue. We, in turn, will analyze what we received back from Ultimate, and then decide how to proceed from here.”
