In light of the recent ruling to uphold the seizure of poker site's domain names. Microgaming has decided to block customers with IP addresses in Kentucky.
Among the companies on Microgaming's network are 32Red, Doyle's Room, Crazy Poker and Ladbrokes.
Kentucky is not the only state to be affected by the decision as a further 12 states will be blacklisted, including Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, Nevada and New York.
An email distributed to affiliates of Eurolinx Poker stated: "Players can still register from the banned states, but will not be able to play in the poker client or in the casino."
It added that the service being used to block customers will use a proxy detector which will prevent players from hiding their IPs.
A total of 141 domain names were seized by governor of Kentucky Steve Beshear.
The decision was upheld by Judge Thomas Wingate who ruled that the move was legal and stated that the internet was not above the law.
