Officials say past offenders continue to flout the law

According to Police officials from Malaysia's third largest state Pahang, illegal online gambling activities have become a serious issue.

Pahang CID Chief SAC T. Narenasagaran told The New Straits Times that police seized 2 644 computer units worth RM2 219 308 which had been converted and used for gambling activities at 213 premises in all Malaysian districts from January to June this year.

According to Narenasagaran, illegal online gambling is on the rise with new operators and previously raided premises continuing operations in contravention of the law.

"Ops Dadu", the anti-online gambling Police operation codename, will increase surveillance and conduct regular raids along with cutting off power supplies to premises, revocation of business licences and termination of internet connections.
