Fiachra Meere has triumphed at the Irish Winter Festival's main event, the Irish Masters.
He battled through a field of 423 players who turned up to participate in the competition at the Citywest hotel in Dublin.
Meere beat Chris Woods – the chip leader when they sat down at the final table – in heads-up play.
The eventual winner went all in with A-6 against Wood's pocket jacks and looked to be overmatched when the flop revealed 8-7-2.
However, the straight draw was still on and when the turn revealed a nine, Meere was one card away from victory.
When a five appeared on fifth street, Wood's jacks were defeated, earning Meere €150,000 ($188,000) and leaving Wood with €106,000.
Meere joins a list of famous poker players who have won the event in Dublin, including Ram Vaswani and Roland De Wolfe.
De Wolfe triumphed in 2006 and has amassed ten cashes at the World Series of Poker, one World Poker Tour title and one European Poker Tour win.
