Domingo German will make his second appearance of the 2022 campaign this Wednesday night when he leads the New York Yankees into Citi Field to face the New York Mets, live at 7:10 PM ET on ESPN. German started the season on the injured list with an impinged right shoulder.
Yankees vs. Mets
This will be the second of back-to-back games for the two Big Apple teams, and their first series of the 2022 campaign. It’s been a good one for the Mets, who have maintained their lead atop the National League East for virtually the entire season, but it’s been even better for the Yankees, the No. 1 team in the overall standings and runaway –3500 favorites to win the American League East.
Scherzer (2.28 ERA) has already won the Cy Young Award three times, but 2022 might be his best season yet – despite missing nearly two months with a strained oblique. German made his season debut last Thursday in a 7-5 loss to the Houston Astros (–135 at home), allowing five runs in three innings before getting the hook.
German will be making just his second start this year after a lengthy stay on the injured list with an impinged right shoulder. He gave up five runs to the Houston Astros last Thursday in three innings of work, with the Yankees eventually losing 7-5 as +113 road dogs. Scherzer, who’s pitching some of the best baseball of his already notable career, has the Mets at 8-4 (Under 6-5-1) in his 12 starts.
