Tom ‘Durr' Dwan, arguably online poker's most exciting player due to his bold playing style and huge swings in monetary fortune, played a leading role in some record breaking poker pots at Full Tilt's big online games over the weekend, at one stage holding $1,4 million at the $500/$1 000NL table Railheaven.
"RailHeaven" is the six-handed $500/$1000 NLHE game that runs on Full Tilt Poker, with many of the biggest names in Internet poker frequenting the high stakes game, including daring players such as Patrik Antonius, David Benyamine, Phil Ivey and Tom "durrrr" Dwan. In an action-packed night at Full Tilt Poker, records were broken across the high-stakes tables as the largest pots in high-stakes poker were achieved on no less than four occasions. The former record for largest pot was just over $600 000 and was won by Cirque de Soleil founder Guy Laliberte holding only a pair of deuces. This has now been surpassed by Tom Dwan who took a massive $617 968 pot with top two pair against a $275 000 bluff after a long session playing heads-up with Lars Luzack.
True to his exciting form, Dwan went on to lose another record pot in a clash with John Juanda. After going all-in pre-flop with AA and KK respectively, Juanda’s three-outer came on the river and the World Series of Poker Europe champion won a $678 000 pot, setting another record.
The record breaking session was still not over, however. Phil Ivey generated the next highpoint when he flopped a set of tens after some intense pre-flop action and check-raised all in. Juanda called off with K8ss for the second-nut flush draw and didn’t hit, delivering a record $690 000 pot to Ivey.
The fourth and final record was created by player Urindanger who scooped the final record of $723 938 in some entertaining action involving Guy Laliberte and Dwan. Urindanger raised from middle position to $3 000 and Laliberte called. Dwan jumped in with $16 300 and it folded back to Urindanger, who 4-bet to $45 000. Dwan called, leaving stacks of around $300 000 behind. The flop came 594 with two hearts and Urindanger bet out. Dwan raised and Urindanger shoved, receiving an instacall. Once again, Dwan was in a AA v KK situation, but this time he was not so lucky as the turn and river blanked out and shipped a new record pot of $723 938 pot.
