A recent ruling will allow gaming companies in Colorado to increase the maximum wagers that gamers can place.

The US state approved Initiative 121, the limited gaming initiative, under Amendment 50 and this will enable Century Casinos to raise the limits in Central City, Black hawk and Cripple Creek.

Poker fans visiting the state will now be able to place bets of up to $100 whereas before the decision the highest wager allowed was $5.

Peter Hoetzinger and Erwin Haitzmann, co-chief executive officers of Century Casinos, said: "The approval of Amendment 50 will make the gaming market in Colorado more competitive and we are hopeful the three gaming towns will swiftly approve and implement the new amendments."

As well as increasing the wager limit the ruling will enable casinos in the towns to stay open for longer, allowing poker players to spend more time at the felt.

Century Casino in Central City, Colorado, has facilities for playing three-card-poker as well as The Best Poker Room of the Century, which provides for private poker playing parties.
