Pokerstars is to take another run at a world record, this time attempting to break its own Guinness Book of Records benchmark of 149,196 players in action at once.

The drive, which culminates in the record attempt on December 4, will be supported by promotions and a special live broadcast by Pokerstars Radio, commencing at 17h00 GMT just 30 minutes ahead of the record breaking attempt.

This will follow the same format as the popular WCOOP radio shows earlier in the year and will be presented by the poker broadcasting team of Nick Wealthall and Joe Stapleton, with a mix of call-ins from the poker world’s elite players, studio banter from the hosts, and promotions and competitions with hundreds of prizes up for grabs.

The $1 World Record Tournament is aiming to become the largest online poker tournament ever on Sunday and features a $250,000 guarantee and a cap of 200,000 players.

First prize is a guaranteed $50,000, and there are $10 bounties on the heads of all Team PokerStars players who take part in the tournament.
