Players Protest Pokerstars Vip Program Changes

Online poker giant shuts down accounts of ‘sit-out' players.
 
The furore over changes to the Pokerstars VIP Club awards program  escalated this week when an unknown number of angry players staged a mass “sit-out” on 24 cash game tables on January 1, and the operator retaliated by restricting some accounts and locking others.
 
The operator gave advance warning that it reserved the right to retaliate based on the "degree of disruption to our business" that any protest would cause.
 
Company spokesman Steve Day posted that the nature of the company's reaction had not yet been decided, but warned that: “We may take measures, not necessarily punitive, to minimize [any] disruption.”
