A Las Vegas case filed in February against 52-year-old retired Omaha businessman and philanthropist Terry Watanabe will be heard on May 13 following a Grand Jury indictment this week on two counts of theft and two counts of bad cheques.
The case involves $14.75 million which two Las Vegas land casinos claim is owed by Watanabe in respect of gambling debts . Watanabe's legal representative has advised that his client, who is currently free on $1.5 million bail, will contest the charges.
Defense lawyer David Chesnoff says Watanabe has been "an honorable guest of Nevada casinos" and never intended to commit any wrongdoing.
