The opening rounds of the US Poker Championships (USPC) are set to start on Sunday September 14th.

Held at the Trump Taj Mahal on the Las Vegas Strip, the tournament features 24 events, reports Card Player.

The first of these is a $340 limit hold'em competition while the main event, which starts on October 5th has a $10,000 buy-in.
Initially, the tournament only attracted around 75 players, but since then the interest in the competition has grown and names such as Surindar Sunar and Phil Hellmuth have taken part.

Last year, the main event was won by Adam Gerber who beat a field of 164 gamblers to win the $606,095 grand prize.

A variety of games are available at the USPC, including Omaha, pot-limit hold'em, seven-card stud and no-limit hold'em.

Gerber had a run of good luck and form last year when he not only won the USPC main event but also a no-limit hold'em competion at the Borgata on the World Poker Tour.
