New Orleans is preparing to host the Winter Bayou Poker Challenge, which will run between December 1st and 10th.

This is the second year that Harrah's have put on an end of year poker tournament in the Big Easy.

Buy-ins at the tournament will range from $200 to $5,150 for the main event.

Those who take part will be able to enter a ladies championship and attend a seminar being held by Poker Hall of Fame member Barbara Enright.

Jim Hoskins, senior vice president and general manager of Harrah's New Orleans, commented: "This year we decided to pack 15 tournaments into ten straight days of non-stop action. On most days we are offering two major tournaments."

The poker company has also decided to make the starting stacks deeper in response to feedback from last year's participants.

In related news, the World Series of Poker Circuit tour will reach New Orleans in May 2009.
