WPT to launch new TV show
World Poker Tour Enterprises (WPTE) has announced that it is launching a new television show.
In a bid to improve the falling revenues, WPTE is producing a programme that will be aired on Fox Sports Network.
Steve Lipscomb, WPTE president and chief executive officer, said: "Of particular interest is our new collaboration with the Fox Sports Network to broadcast 13 one-hour episodes of a new television series."
He said that the move is the start of a new focus for WPTE because this month it is ending its interests in the online gaming industry after it had "disappointing returns".
According to Mr Lipscomb, the company will also be attempting to boost interest in the WPT in China.
The World Poker Tour is currently at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut.
Despite a slow start on the first flight of day one, 412 poker players turned up to take part and heading into day two, Jason Potter leads Phil Ivey by 150 chips.
