The online poker division of major British gambling group Ladbrokes has made a significant investment in World Series of Poker special bonuses as an incentive for its sponsored players to achieve high finishing spots in the main event of the poker spectacular organised by Harrah's Entertainment.
 
In addition to a number of WSOP seat sponsorships, the UK company has announced Main Event finishing position packages that include a million dollars for any Team Ladbrokes sponsored player who wins this year's main event; $500 000 for a second or third placing in the main event and $250 000 for finishers in 4th to 9th positions.
 
For those Laddies players who place between 10th and 27th in the main event $50 000 is offered, and full 2009 Ladbrokes WSOP Seat Sponsorships will be awarded to those of its sponsored players who finish in 28th to 100th slots.
 
"To win the Main Event at the World Series is something every poker player dreams about. I am confident that some PokerStarsof the Team Ladbrokes players will again make this year's Top 100," said Ladbrokes online poker coach Jon Kalmar.
 
Edward Ihre, the Ladbrokes Poker chief, says that the 117 day delay in holding the final table at this year's event provides the final table nine with an unprecedented opportunity to hone their skills in preparation for the big game.
 
Ladbrokes has budgeted to send over 100 of its players to the 2008 Main Event through online qualifiers. Those who win sponsored seats will be offered expert coaching by Ladbrokes aces like Kalmar, who was the fifth-place finisher in the 2007 Main Event.
 
If any of those Ladbrokes-qualified players achieve a seat at the 2008 WSOP main event final table, they will receive a guaranteed $250 000 sponsorship package that includes $100 000 in buy-ins for other tournaments during the 117 days the players will have to wait.
