Poker veteran Doyle Brunson has said that High Stakes Poker is about making money rather than just entertainment.
In his blog on DoylesRoom.com, Brunson said he has been criticised for playing too tightly in the games.
He responded by saying that the aim of the game is to win cash rather than to entertain the viewers.
The ten-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner said that he is going for his 15th straight win on the television cash games next time he plays.
His approach to the cash games is perhaps understandable given that he was required to put up a $200,000 stake to compete.
This is twice as much as was required in the previous four seasons and is twenty times the amount players need to pay to compete in the WSOP main event.
Other players who are competing on High Stakes Poker include Daniel Negreanu, Peter Eastgate and Tom Dwan.
