2012 Wsop Event 5

Saturday June 2, 2012 : NEGREANU MISSES WSOP BRACELET NUMBER FIVE (Update)

Five not a lucky number for Canadian ace

Las Vegas-based poker pro Daniel Negreanu had no luck with the number five this week, losing out on his attempt to win a fifth World Series of Poker bracelet when he was eliminated in the fifth spot of Event 5, the $1,500 buy-in  Pot-Limit Hold’em tournament.

His fifth placing was, however accompanied by a consolatory $41,000 payday.

Bryan Pellegrino held the chip lead on the nine man final table when play started, facing Negreanu, Tommy Vedes, European Poker Tour title-holder John Eames and WPT title holder Jonathan Aguiar among his rivals.

None of those illustrious names collected the honours in this event, however – it was Nick Jivkov who survived and in fact dominated the final table and a tense heads up against Pellegrino to claim the winner's prize of $189,818 and the bracelet, leaving Pellegrino with a runner up check for $117,199.
