2012 WSOP Event 29
Wednesday June 20, 2012 : FEMALE WIN IN WORLD SERIES OF POKER EVENT 29 (Update)
Allyn Jaffrey Shulman bests WSOP champ in NLHE Senior Championship
Allyn Jaffrey Shulman is $603,713 wealthier this morning after besting former WSOP main event final tabler Dennis Phillips in World Series of Poker event 29 – the $1,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em Senior Championship.
Play in the event resumed Monday with just four players – Hoyt Corkins and Bob Phelps joined Shulman and Phillips – still standing from a field of 4,128, a record field for the event.
Shulman, who is a respected legal expert and columnist, bested Phillips in an exciting heads up in which the lead switched a number of times before she was able to gain ascendancy and finally eliminate her opponent, who took home a second placing pay check of $372,895.
The winner's $603,713 pay out for a woman in a WSOP event is beaten only by that of Annette Obrestad’s $2 million victory in the inaugural WSOPE Main Event in 2007…and of course Shulman claimed a coveted WSOP winner's bracelet.
Other pay-outs on the final table were:
Bob Phelps $270,727
Hoyt Corkins $199,023
Bill Stabler $147,605
Stuart Spear $110,416
William Thomson $83,332
Martin Fitzmaurice $63,418
Harold Lilie $48,669
